Why We Homeschool
when peter was a baby we bought a suburban. it may have seemed like a crazy thing to do since we only had one child. but there was a plan. we were hoping to have many children and we figured that the suburban would be paid off just in time for us to start paying christian school tuition IF we decided to send them to school. that IF was in place from the beginnng. and so we kept living, teaching our baby his colors, his numbers, how to speak. and the IF drifted away. we started talking about homeschool. we started buying workbooks. and the Lord continued blessing us with babies, quickly filling that trusty suburban. eventually there was no doubt that the homeschool life was for us. we only have so much time in this life to train our children up in the fear of the Lord. we just don't feel that we can be faithful to that calling if we send them away from us all day and only get a few hours with them each evening. and so we keep them home and we learn together. if you homeschool, maybe you will find some ideas and inspiration from me as i share our days. if you don't homeschool, i won't try to convince you- i'll just share with you how it works for us. it doesn't take a perfectly patient and always organized person. if so, i would completely fail. it takes committment. it takes prayer. and whether the days are productive or i feel like we've accomlished nothing, there is grace.
