New Year's Day 2013.
We had Chinese food and it was wonderful. We were supposed to get Chinese on Christmas, but a stomach bug had reared its ugly head, bringing us down one by one. I had a mild case of it... with a lingering stomach ache. Then I ate the Chinese food. I got very very sick. Maybe it was a bit too spicy for this pregnant mama. Maybe my still recovering from the flu body wasn't ready for such rich food. No matter, it was a wake up call to me. A blessing in disguise. And so I made the decision that this will be the year of REAL FOOD. We don't have horrible eating habits, but I definitely use some quick and convenient things as a crutch. We will focus on eating less meat, more fruits, vegetables and whole grains and eliminate processed, full of sugar items. I am taking it a step further for awhile in order to heal, cutting out wheat and dairy. Pete may take the list to the store and buy the food, but I am the one responsible for what goes on that list. Thankfully he is fully on board with an endeavor to be more mindful of what we put into our bodies. We want to be strong in order to serve our Heavenly Father and build His Kingdom. And so we must care for the homes of our souls.
